I Will Repay

Exodus 20:4-6

4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.

God Haters (Enemies of God)

James 4:4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Matthew 5:13  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

In ancient Israel there was one warning which God continually repeated to the people. He warned them not to forget. Not to forget how He delivered them out of Egypt. Not to forget when they inherit the Promised Land that it was God who prepared the way before them to bless them. Not to forget that when they worked and brought in money that it was the Lord God who gave them the power to get wealth . These warnings were heeded for a few months or a few years, and then Israel totally forgot God and His covenant (Deuteronomy 4:9; 4:23; 8:11-19).

They forgot because they allowed the influence from heathen nations to blend into their own thinking. Idolatry was a sin but eventually when your best friends are a gang of idol worshippers, you become desensitized to the error of idol worship.

Once your close friends become the fornicating Moabites, the light of truth becomes shrouded by clouds of darkness, until you think that fornication is the God given right of every person with the physical ability to perform the act. The Molech worshippers offered their children to the burning belly of this iron God. They  passed their children into the fire.

This act is called an  abomination in God’s Word and is forbidden in God’s law. However, the Molech crowd was permitted to enjoy the same freedoms of the Hebrews when they lived in Jerusalem.

Soon the religious Jews were eating at the same table with the Molech crowd. Eventually the Molech worshippers convinced the religious Jews that there was really nothing wrong with offering an occasional son to the fires of Molech. Their influence became so great that even leading kings of Israel passed their sons through the fire!

1John 2:15  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

[ The Lord ‘s Anger Against Nineveh ] The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his foes and maintains his wrath against his enemies.

For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols.

They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.

It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.

Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”

Jonah 3:1-2

“And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, 2 Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.”

In fact, Jonah did go and preach to those who lived in the city and told them they only had forty days to repent or be destroyed. We can see that the citizens of the city, from the greatest to the least did repent and turn to God. Therefore the Lord spared the city (Jonah 3). All this took place in Iraq.

A destroyer will come against Babylon; her warriors will be captured, and their bows will be broken. For the LORD is a God of retribution; he will repay in full.

The Japanese leader said:  When we dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbour, we intended to deal a hard and final blow on America; I am afraid we have only ended up awakening the giant, a terrible resolve , A resolve to win. America won the war.

Don’t laugh. God said if His people break the covenant He would appoint  terror  over them and the  enemies would rise above us (Leviticus 26:16 &

Deuteronomy 28:31-55) When the enemy comes against me like a flood I remember that Power Belongs to the Lord, my God.

The higher you take my rights away, the higher I will jump.

Do not despair, I will repay says the Lord.

No matter how much the debt of grievances (complaint, accusation, objection, gripe, grumble, moan, injustice, wrong, cause of distress, ill-treatment, unfairness, infringement, etc.) owed to you, I will repay.
[ Love, for the Day is Near ] Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.

No matter how much debt you owe, I will repay.

Take time out and seek the Face of the Lord (Lamentations 3).
